Edifice was appointed  by Gulf Finance House, B.S.C. to develop a design for a desert spa resort.  Edifice, in association with Jean-Michel Ruols and Stefan Geissler, developed a unique concept featuring a spa hotel with a Sumerian theme for Al Areen Desert Spa and Resort. This project gained applause from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Originalities of this project were its spa concept offering a truly enriching option to the resort life; and the guaranteed quietness and privacy of its residents, with wide apartments covered by Bedouin-style tents and bungalow suites located on the slopes of the rocky spur on which the center of the project would be built.
