Conrad Hotel and Marina
Hospitality and Tourism Development
Dubai, United Arab Emirates
In 1994, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s office directed Edifice to propose a high-quality hospitality and tourism development on the OSC Site located in the Dubai Creek. SPIE Batignolles TP, a major French contractor, put together a team consisting of Arte Charpentier Achitects (Paris), Conrad International (hotel operator), SGTE (engineers, Paris), TUP (landscape architects, Paris) Dubarch (architects, Dubai) and Edifice (local consultant, Dubai).
The proposed development included a 353-room 6-star luxury hotel with large ballroom facilities and a sports and health club; a marina with piers for 50 craft; an apartment complex with 70 high-class serviced residential units and a retail and restaurant arcade; and 960 outdoor parking spots amidst a landscaped park.
